White Collar Crimes and Severe Penalties
White collar crimes carry severe penalties which frequently can include imprisonment, fines and restitution. Many white collar crimes are prosecuted in federal court. Please visit our federal practice center or contact Arnold Terrill Anzini, P.C., to learn more.
White collar crimes are also pursued in state court. In Indiana, prosecutors will, at times, charge individuals under the corrupt business influence statute. Pursuant to I.C. 35-45-6-2, it is a Class C felony for a person to knowingly or intentionally receive any money or proceeds from a pattern of racketeering and who uses those funds to acquire an interest in property or to operate an enterprise. For example, theft, forgery, bribery, or promoting gambling or prostitution could serve as the basis for such an offense.
